Union Comm Proudly Supports Successful HK Youth Study Tour in Greater Bay Area

Empowering Hong Kong’s Youth to Stay Ahead in Innovation


Union Communications Hong Kong Limited (“Union Comm”), a leading policy advocacy and communications agency, proudly supported the Federation of New Territories Youth Development Foundation (“FNTY”, http://www.fnty.org.hk/) in successfully hosting the Greater Bay Area Innovation and Technology Study Tour for Hong Kong Youth from December 29 to 31, 2024. Held under the “Mengxi Youth Talk” China’s National Achievement Science Popularization Program, the event attracted around 30 Hong Kong youth with a passion for innovation and technology.


Organized by FNTY, the program was fully designed, coordinated, and implemented with Union Comm’s comprehensive support. This initiative aligns with the objectives of Hong Kong’s Blueprint for Innovation and Technology Development, aiming to foster a culture of innovation, deepen collaboration between Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland, and inspire Hong Kong youth to engage in national development.

Hong Kong Youth Visits Eight Leading Enterprises in the Greater Bay Area.

As a strategic partner, Union Comm worked closely with FNTY to design a comprehensive learning journey tailored to youth. The itinerary covered cutting-edge fields such as industrial internet, AI, smart cities, low-altitude economy, robotics, and low-carbon sustainability. Led by FNTY Vice-Chairman Mr. Henry Liu and FNTY Consultant and Union Comm Partner Sam Han, the program successfully coordinated visits to eight leading enterprises and technological facilities across the Greater Bay Area.


Study Tour Highlights:

  • Industrial Internet: Participants visited the Greater Bay Area Industrial Internet Public Technology Service Platform in Shenzhen and JD Logistics’ Dongguan Asia No. 1 Intelligent Park. They gained insights into the digital transformation of SMEs and the application of smart logistics technology, experiencing firsthand how innovation drives efficiency and industry integration.

  • Artificial Intelligence: The group explored the renowned vivo Dongguan Intelligent Manufacturing Factory and UBTECH Robotics, where they witnessed the extensive applications of AI in manufacturing, education, and healthcare. They also observed humanoid robots in action across various scenarios.

  • Smart Cities: Participants visited the China Unicom (Shenzhen) 5Gn Digital Innovation Experience Center, learning how big data, cloud computing, and AI technologies are shaping smart community management and digital lifestyle services. The itinerary also included the Longhua Future City Exhibition Hall, showcasing the integration of digital economy and urban planning, as well as the Bao’an Urban Air Mobility Demonstration Center and Longgang Energy Eco-Park, where participants explored the innovative applications of drone technology and green solutions in sustainable development.


Through immersive visits and hands-on experiences, the youth gained a deep understanding of the Chinese Mainland’s rapid advancements in innovation and technology. The program also facilitated meaningful exchanges with R&D professionals from leading companies, broadening participants’ perspectives on the Greater Bay Area’s innovation ecosystem. Many expressed how the study tour enriched their knowledge of national developments and sparked new ideas and enthusiasm for exploration.


Henry Liu, FNTY Vice-Chairperson and the delegation leader, remarked, "This study tour not only provided young people with valuable opportunities for exchange, but also inspired fresh perspectives on their future development paths. We look forward to seeing more youth participate in similar programs, broadening their horizons both internationally and within the Chinese Mainland, while strengthening their capabilities in innovation and technology."


FNTY Vice-Chairperson and Secretary-General Win Wang said, “The study tour offered a unique chance for young people to witness the remarkable achievements of national innovation and technology. We hope these youth will become key contributors to Hong Kong’s integration into national development and play a vital role in building Hong Kong as a global innovation and technology hub.”

The program was generously sponsored by the Innovation and Technology Commission of the Hong Kong SAR Government, with additional support from the Innovation, Technology and Industry Bureau, the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR New Territories Work Department, the Sun Hung Kai Charitable Fund, the New Territories Association of Societies, the New Territories School Heads Association, the Global Affairs Office of the Education University of Hong Kong, Zhongguancun Youth Entrepreneurship International Technology Company (Beijing), the Computer Science and Engineering Department of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and the Hong Kong Generative AI Research and Development Centre. These partnerships reflect a shared commitment to nurturing future innovation talent and advancing the development of Hong Kong’s youth.
