Union Comm Supports APEC TELCA Workshop, Fostering Regional Collaboration on Low-Carbon Technologies

Union Communications (“Union Comm”), a leading policy advocacy and communications firm in Hong Kong, is pleased to announce the successful conclusion of the APEC Technology Empowers Low Carbon Action (TELCA) Workshop, collaborating with the Beijing International Exchange Association. The workshop took place in Beijing from 2 to 4 September 2024.

The event brought together more than 30 representatives from 11 APEC member economies, including Chile; China; Hong Kong, China; Republic of Korea; Malaysia; Mexico; Peru; The Philippines; The Russian Federation; Thailand; and Viet Nam, as well as representatives from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the APEC Secretariat Policy Support Unit.

The workshop featured insightful discussions on policies, trends, and technologies aimed at promoting sustainable low-carbon practices across the APEC region. Participants from both the public and private sectors exchanged views on innovative solutions to reduce carbon emissions, gender equality amid climate change, and the Just Transition, while startups shared cutting-edge practices contributing to sustainability goals.

“We are proud to have hosted such a dynamic and impactful event,” said Sam Han, partner of Union Comm. “The workshop provided a unique platform for economies to collaborate and share knowledge, ultimately contributing to the development of low-carbon technologies and sustainable policies. This event has demonstrated the power of cooperation in achieving a greener future.”

As part of the workshop's outcomes, participants provided valuable feedback on the APEC TELCA Report, produced by Union Comm. This input will be instrumental in refining policy recommendations and guiding principles for future regional cooperation on sustainability.
